What is it that makes the Sun Odyssey 33i such a remarkable yacht? For a start it feels much more substantial than a 33 footer, partially because it is so stiff and fully Cat’ A offshore rated, but it is more that. Certainly the keel is highly sophisticated for a cruising yacht, so this is an element, but designer Marc Lombard knows his stuff because I’ve yet to have anyone sail the SO33i that isn’t absolutely delighted with it. It is light on the helm, surprisingly quick and simply puts a smile on your dial.
All the best gear with class leading specifications helps, but the use of space is impressive with an owners cabin that is bright airy and spacious, comfortable saloon seating, and a large head and a huge cockpit locker for all that lose gear.
